Zaha Hadid's Daring Style
Zaha Hadid, the world-renowned architect who died Thursday morning, was a woman of style. In addition to her awe-inspiring buildings, she designed jewelry with a similar modern aesthetic in mind, most recently in partnership with the Danish firm Georg Jensen. She was also a fan of fashion designers like Issey Miyake, Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons, and Miuccia Prada, who share a love of structure and artful silhouettes. She could be spotted front row at many Christopher Kane shows during London Fashion Week, but her love for fashion was a mutual one. Her many friends and fans included Stella McCartney, Donna Karan, and Karl Lagerfeld, who held his Chanel Resort 2016 show in her DDP building in Seoul. Hadid said she was inspired by the Chanel quilted handbag for her “contemporary art container” in Hong Kong, but the list of designers influenced by her work is long and likely to continue togrow. Here, a look back at some of her most memorable ensembles.
