His ancestors bejeweled Napoleon III and Marlene Dietrich, among others, and now Patrick Mauboussin is targeting his own celebrity clients. “I would love for Meryl Streep or Sharon Stone to wear it,” he says. He’s referring not to the work of his family’s storied house, Mauboussin, which he sold in 2002 before traveling to L.A. from his native Florence, but to his own collection, Kazanjian by Patrick M, a joint venture with the West Coast firm Kazanjian Bros. For his new pieces, Mauboussin sources exotic stones from all over the world. One bauble, for instance, features a citrine set into an elaborate pavé diamond cuff. He takes a grand view of his approach, calling it “a meeting between the stones and creativity.”
