An unlikely storm of elements—fishing, Academy award-winners and New York socials—collided Thursday evening when The Cinema Society and Opium Yves Saint Laurent hosted a screening of Salmon Fishing in Yemen, film written by Simon Beaufoy based on the novel by Paul Torday. The movie follows a sheik who wants to promote the sport of—you guessed it—salmon fishing in a desert, with the help of a representative (Emily Blunt) and British fishing expert (Ewan McGregor). Blunt and McGregor did their turns on the red carpet at the Crosby Street Hotel and post-viewing, Helena Christensen, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Patricia Clarkson and others stuck around to party.
