Party People: More is More
At least when it comes to throwing a bash these days.
Why have one party when you can have three in one night? This seems to be the new maximalist mantra in events land. Take Prada’s Paris store opening during couture week: There was a cocktail party in the recently renovated boutique; a celeb-stocked dinner at the Palais d’Iéna, which was transformed into a 24-hour pop-up museum; and a late-night bash where Kate Moss starred as the DJ. Two days later, the annual Sidaction Gala that benefits AIDS research, held at the Pavillon d’Armenonville, was a sort of de facto afterparty for the couture set. Guests, including Grace Jones, Beth Ditto, Catherine Deneuve, and Juliette Binoche, donned their finest for the occasion. Back in New York, arts organization Istanbul ’74, Pomellato, and W magazine celebrated artist Sandro Kopp’s (aka Tilda Swinton’s beau) show “There You Are” with cocktails, a dinner at the Lehmann Maupin gallery, and—you guessed it—a postmeal party at Chinatown hot spot Pulqueria. One stone, three birds.
