Friday the 13th is more known for ominous superstitious happenings than amorous moments. So leave it to Paul McCartney to flip the date on its head as he did this past Friday when he threw a party in Los Angeles for the world premiere of the video for his rendition of “My Valentine,” off his new album Kisses on the Bottom. Daughter Stella played host for the event, opening up her boutique there to the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Martin, Reese Witherspoon, Kristen Stewart, Jane Fonda and Miranda Kerr, most of them arriving in her designs. After perusing the store’s goods and grabbing a cocktail, guests settled down to watch the video, which features Natalie Portman and Johnny Depp narrating the song’s lyrics in sign language in sync with Sir Paul’s voice, nary a foil-covered chocolate heart or doily in sight. As if you needed further proof that every day should be Valentine’s Day.
