Breaking up is hard to do. Especially when it comes about suddenly, three weeks before your wedding. This is the premise of the new comedy Lola Versus from Daryl Wein and Zoe Lister-Jones of Breaking Upwards renown, which had a special Brooks Brothers-sponsored Cinema Society screening Tuesday night. The film stars Greta Gerwig as Lola, a charmingly self-conscious 29 year-old, who is summarily dumped by her boyfriend just before their nuptials. Adrift and clueless, she engages in questionable sexual behavior as she tries to sort out her life before she turns 30, all with help from her fast-talking best friend (played by Lister-Jones). After the credits rolled at the SVA Theatre, well-wishers like Noah Baumbach, Olivia Munn and a trio of Gummer sisters (Mamie, Grace and Louisa) headed to the Standard’s Highline Room and Terrace for an after-party.
