Most fashion presentations involve sullen-faced models standing still for hours like rare creatures in a petting zoo. Not in Stella McCartney’s hands. Monday night, the designer hosted a carnival-esque party for her resort 2013 collection in an East Village garden, where her mannequins danced to music from The Soul Rebels Brass Band, sipped rose champagne and—gasp—even nibbled from the vegetarian spread, which included mac ‘n’ cheese, mini tacos, black bean burgers and grilled corn. There were fairground booths, including darts and a ring toss, and even a strength tester, where everyone from Hanneli Mustapara to Alison Nix took a swing, as incognito celebs like Anne Hathaway and Greta Gerwig looked on.
