Richard Phillips's Beautiful Girls
Last night, the artist Richard Phillips opened his latest star-studded show at Gagosian's West 24th St gallery. The buzzing crowd—Lizzy Olsen, Olivier Theyskens, and Carine Roitfeld all showed up—gaped at the huge, lushly painted realist portraits of Lindsay Lohan, Sasha Grey, and Adriana Lima. There was an abundance of flawless, gorgeous artifice (in a knowing way), so much so a fellow artist commented, "It sort of makes you want to do a line right now." And this was well before the afterparty later on, at No. 8.
