Grace Jones: How a Diva Does a Book Signing
The model and performer, a long-time fan and collaborator of the Japanese designer, color-blocks for a signing of her memoir's French translation.
Who: Grace Jones.
When: Friday, March 18.
Where: A book signing for her memoir, I’ll Never Write My Memoirs, recently released in French, at Paris’s Le Bon Marché.
What: A full Issey Miyake ensemble of pleated kimono and hat with a single black glove and, on the opposite side, a single, cannabis-leaf-shaped earring.
Why: Jones has been a long-time fan of Miyake’s eponymous brand, having walked in his famed 1976 show. (She wore this same hat to a previous English-language signing.) Between the asymmetry and the bold color palette — and 40 years after she strode down his runway — she’s still our favorite Miyake muse.
