Celebrities » Krysten Ritter is Obsessed with "Game of Thrones" Too
Krysten Ritter
Jessica Jones (Netflix)
Were you a comics fan before taking on this role, which is based on a Marvel superhero?
I had actually never read a comic book in my life, but I got the entire Alias series and just devoured it. It’s very noir—the first word is “fuck”—and it’s this R-rated world, which is not what I was expecting.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
Mind control, like the villain in our show—you can make anyone do anything you want anytime! I wouldn’t abuse it—but I would just make things a whole lot easier for myself, all the time.

What’s your kryptonite?
Chocolate ice cream.

Ritter wears a Balmain bodysuit.

Krysten Ritter is Obsessed with "Game of Thrones" Too

The actress, superhero of Netflix's Jessica Jones, says her kryptonite is chocolate ice cream and Game of Thrones.

Krysten Ritter‘s first TV crush growing up was that epochal avatar of teenage angst Angela Chase, from My So Called Life.  So it’s surprising that as an actress, she’s excelled at smart-alecky and sometimes tough characters like her crafty Jane in Breaking Bad and the titular character in Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23. Her latest is the hard-boiled Jessica Jones in the Netflix series of the same name, which was such a success upon its release last November that it was renewed for a second season in January, alongside a companion series called The Defenders featuring other characters from the Marvel universe. It shouldn’t faze you that Ritter herself is something of a softie.

What TV show makes you cry?
What show doesn’t? I cry from just about every show—How to Get Away with Murder, Loveline, Damages. Any episode of any show when someone is having a baby. I even cry watching Friends!

Were you a comic fan before taking on the role of Jessica Jones?
I had actually never read a comic book in my life but I got the entire Alias [where the Jones character made its first appearance] series and just devoured it. It’s very noir—the first word is “fuck,” and it’s this R-rated world, which is not what I was expecting.

If you could have a superpower what would it be?
Mind control, like the villain in our show. You can make anyone do anything you want any time! I wouldn’t abuse it. I mean, I definitely wouldn’t do anything sinister, but I would just make things a whole lot easier for myself, all the time.

What’s your kryptonite?
Chocolate ice cream.

Do you have a current television obsession?
I’ve seen every episode of Game of Thrones, multiple times. And I also watch the after show and the online commentary and all of that.

So is it your dream to guest star on the show?
Yes and no. I don’t think I really want to know how that particular sausage is made.
