Ashley Lloyd, Ken Borochov, and Juniper Rose make major statement pieces

Abalone shells, elk teeth, wax flowers, and turtle feet—what sound like the ingredients for a witch’s brew are actually the fixings of Ashley Lloyd’s fantastical headpieces (near left). “I’m drawn to the bizarre,” says the 26-year-old, who fashioned a crown of antler tips for W’s March 2012 Kate Moss cover story. Like Lloyd, Ken Borochov (far left), the designer of the “extreme adornment luxury line” Mordekai, is another creative genius whom this magazine calls on for the more wild and crazy stuff. A former stylist, he’s often commissioned to craft extravagant aluminum crowns and headpieces (second from left), but the guy has range: He made a gold-plate wheelchair for Lady Gaga to use post–hip surgery. When it comes to medieval-inspired jewelry, Juniper Rose of Falconiere (left, center) is the go-to girl. To call her pieces—which include a wrist-to-elbow leather cuff covered in Swarovski crystals and a bib-size chain mail collar (shown on Rose)—”accessories” is an understatement. “I know—I’m crazy!” Rose says.
