Aymeline
Valade: Style Star

The French model-turned-actress discusses her transformation.

The French model Aymeline Valade may have had to change her hair color to play Betty Catroux in Bertrand Bonello’s forthcoming
film Saint Laurent (she bleached her dark locks platinum and plans to keep the color until her blonde-centric hair products run out), but she didn’t have to alter her style. “We have a very similar way of dressing: androgynous, classic, minimalist,” says Valade of the legendary fashion muse, whom she finally met after filming wrapped. “I’m just a bit more street.” Valade supplements a wardrobe
of Céline and Saint Laurent suits, Perfecto leather jackets, and Jil Sander trenchcoats with Vans, vintage T-shirts, and well-worn A.P.C. jeans—
all of which she sports with tousled hair, some blush,
and heavy mascara. “I’m
a girl,” she notes. “I still want to look pretty.”
