Sicilian Soirée
Sicily didn’t know what hit it when fashion designer Luisa Beccaria and her husband, Don Lucio Bonaccorsi dei Principe di Reburdone, marked their 25th wedding anniversary with an extravagant three-day celebration attended by Europe’s chicest denizens.
The festivities kicked off with a viewing of Agamemnon at the Siracusa Greek theater, followed by dinner in a nearby ancient church for 250 of the pair’s friends. The next evening at sunset, 600 more guests—including most of Italy’s aristocracy, from Carlo di Borbone to Fulco Ruffo di Calabria—joined the family at their restored medieval castle Castelluccio. Elaborate chandeliers hung from the jacaranda trees in the garden, and ballerinas dressed as nymphs danced about. The couple’s porcelain-skinned daughters, Lucilla, Lucrezia and Luna, added one more decorative element. “This is the perfect setting for the Bonaccorsis— they look like the sweetest dolls,” said Margherita Missoni.
Meanwhile, Allegra and Francesca Versace, Pia Miller Getty, Fulvia and Leonardo Ferragamo, Miley Zegna, Marta Marzotto and Irina Abramovich dined on pasta with wild fennel amid rows of candlelit olive trees. The ceramic centerpieces on the family-style tables were custom made in Caltagirone, a village known for pottery, and filled with lemons and bouquets of delphiniums and roses.
“I really didn’t expect all these dear friends to make it down here,” said a touched Bonaccorsi. He probably didn’t expect some of them to remain on the dance floor until 6 a.m., either.
The following afternoon, those who could drag themselves from bed returned for a grilled lunch in the olive grove—dress code: summer whites—while the kids played in the pool.
