Hari Nef, IRL Porcelain Doll, Stops by Tiffany Before Skipping Out on Fashion Week

The model, actress, activist, and Gucci muse (oh, my!) goes with a sweet, frilly Alexander McQueen look to celebrate Tiffany’s new HardWear collection.

With a handful of shows Wednesday and the official kickoff Thursday, New York Fashion Week is about to sweep through Manhattan. But the Fall 2017 is going to be short one familiar face: As model and actress Hari Nef wrote on Instagram Wednesday, captioning an image of her look from Tuesday night’s Tiffany HardWear party, she’s planning on “skipping new york fashion week entirely.” She might be going dark for the next week and a half, but at least she’s left us with one immaculate look to remember her by. At a party that also featured appearances by Olivia Wilde, in a chic Roland van der Kemp double-breasted suit, Kate Mara, in a Michael Kors Collection sheath, and Christina Ricci, Karolina Kurkova, and Lindsay Ellingson, Nef’s delicate Victoriana look set our hearts aflutter.

Who: Hari Nef.

When: Tuesday, February 7.

Where: The Tiffany HardWear jewelry line launch party at the Standard East Village in New York, New York.

What: A high-necked knitted lace minidress by Alexander McQueen from the Resort 2017 collection with a black and white J.W. Anderson Pierce bag, Tiffany HardWear rings and a layered necklace, and heavy black platform boots.

Why: Hari Nef takes a look inspired by the English highlands and makes it punk, just as Sarah Burton would want. In the Resort 2017 lookbook, this McQueen dress comes paired with a wide black multi-belt with grommets and a handful of chunky, edgy rings and bracelets. Nef foregoes the belt, opts instead for Tiffany’s own new edgy jewelry line, and pairs the whole thing with some extremely Gaga platform boots (a fitting touch, as Gaga herself is the new face of the line) and J.W. Anderson’s It bag, the Pierce, draped over her shoulder. There’s still a delicate aura to the whole thing, thanks to the soft color palette of the McQueen design, its cascading layers, and Nef’s fresh-faced approach to beauty, her hair strategically beach-waved and her eyes and lips a faint pink. Just like a porcelain doll.
