If You’re Jennifer Connelly, You Don’t Have to Choose Between Athleisure and Formalwear

Another day, another film festival: The pack of actors making the European festival rounds are setting up camp in Zurich, Switzerland, for the city’s annual festival. One such actor is perennial Louis Vuitton favorite Jennifer Connelly, who turned out with co-star Ewan McGregor for the latest premiere of American Pastoral. She traded in a utilitarian scuba dress in San Sebastian for a still-sporty (and still-ruffled) look from the same collection. It must be nice to be a Louis Vuitton girl — she’s one of Nicolas Ghesquière’s brand ambassadors, having starred in both Spring and Fall campaigns last year, the latter alongside fellow perennial favorite Alicia Vikander. A slicked-back updo lets the look speak for itself, and it also doubles down on the athletic aesthetic she’s cultivating throughout this press tour. Like her best look at San Sebastian, this one toes the line between sportwear and more conventional red carpet attire by combining the best of both. It has a hint of subversion — a floor-length skirt, punctuated by a bold, racing-stripe red panel, with a more delicate and classically feminine top.
