SCIONS OF NYFW

Presley Gerber Takes New York Fashion Week

Before the F for Fendi party, the 17-year-old scion detailed his low-key beauty regimen, which includes Axe Body Spray, “which I know is basic.”

The getting ready scene before a major New York Fashion Week event is typically an “all hands on deck” situation. There’s a stylist, a hairdresser, a makeup artist, a manicurist, and on and on. That is, of course, when the client at hand is of the female persuasion.

When the celebrity at hand is a 17-year-old boy, things get a lot easier.

On Friday evening at the Mercer Hotel, Presley Gerber was ready to go. Wardrobe, hair, (lack of) makeup—check, check and check. Oh, the joys of being a fresh-faced teenager.

Gerber touched down in snowy New York City earlier that morning to attend New York Fashion Week, and, specifically, a party for F is for Fendi, the Italian label’s new digital platform, for which Gerber is an ambassador, along with Leonetta Fendi, Delfina Delettrez Fendi, Kenya Kinsky Jones, Laura Love, Roberto Rossellini, and Chloe Wise.“It should be fun,” Gerber said.

For now, the son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber is having something of a boy’s pre-game before a boy’s night out, populating his hotel room with three friends, two of whom are fellow models.

“A year ago, I didn’t know anyone in New York,” the scion said. Gerber, a California kid through and through, explainws he’s been meticulously combing through the city over the past few years, acting as an anthropologist of sorts to determine which neighborhood is the best home for his planned move sometime in the next year. The verdict? “Downtown, definitely.”

This week marks Gerber’s first stay in the Mercer Hotel, a popular celebrity mainstay—in just an hour, there were lobby sightings of Kylie Jenner, Princess Deena Aljuhani Abdulaziz, model Josephine Skriver, and streetwear designer-slash-Kanye-bestie Don Crawley.

It’s easy to forget that Gerber himself is one of those starry faces that populate the hotel. Yes, he’s dressed in head-to-toe Fendi—dark jeans, a oversized t-shirt, and leather jacket—but interacting with his friends, there’s a charmingly goofy, unpretentious vibe that comes off less “son of famous person” and more normal teenager who was raised right.

One of Gerber’s friends jokingly puts on George Michael’s “Careless Whisper”—or, at least, it started as a joke, until the entire room seemed to enjoy it so much that it was played a second time. (“Rolling Stones are my go-to getting ready music,” Gerber said of his own personal taste).

As two friends host dueling Instagram Live Stories, Gerber threw a final cursory glance in the mirror. “Typically, it takes me fifteen or twenty minutes to get ready,” he said. “I shower, wash my hair—I like Axe, which I know is basic—maybe put some product in it, which will depend on the length of my hair, then get dressed and go.”

By contrast, his younger sister, Kaia, takes around two hours. “She starts getting ready way before me,” he said. Kaia, along with Mom and Dad, will arrive in town later this week, so for the time being, Gerber is enjoying the freedom and extra non-prep time.

“Oh, we still have thirty minutes,” he said, realizing the time. With a final tuck of his shirt, he turned to his crew. “Let’s go get something to eat!”

Gerber made his modeling debut in CR Fashion Book alongside his sister, Kaia as a young boy, but again with serious intentions in 2015.

Kaia’s modeling career is well underway, and she’s showing him the ropes, despite being two years younger.

Both learned from the best: their mother, supermodel Cindy Crawford.

Their father, Rande Gerber, was once a male model as well, but went on to be an entertainment industry mogul.

Gerber is a fairly normal 16-year-old, and got dressed up for prom just days before walking in Moschino.

He has a thing for dirt bikes and motorcycles.

We think he should stick to modeling, though. Right, mom?
