Following in the footsteps of Aymeline Valade and Anna Ewers (both of whom walked into the spotlight by opening Alexander Wang shows), Vanessa Moody, 19, has become the girl of the moment, appearing in nearly 50 runway shows this season and closing the likes of Givenchy. But as the Mississippi native explains, she hadn’t considered a modeling career; she was just looking for something to do after graduating high school.

How It All Began
“I never really thought about modeling. I didn’t have a lot of self-confidence, but I also didn’t want to stress about getting a job after graduation, so two years ago I had my dad take me to an open call in Dallas, and I got signed soon after by Women Management.”

Learning Curve
“I knew nothing about fashion. But I met Alexander Wang and walked exclusively for him and Balenciaga last season. He introduced me to a lot.”

Easy Does It
“I keep everything very simple. My uniform is jeans and a sweater. My beauty routine consists of witch hazel and some rose water spray. I do yoga and Pilates, but I’m not an intense workout person.”

Guilty Pleasure
“Tex-Mex, my favorite food. I make nachos with refried beans and meat and two types of sauces. I go overboard.”
