Who Wears the (Yoga) Pants

blog_yoga_pants_01.jpgWhile she certainly isn't looking a gift horse in the mouth, Beyond Yoga designer Jodi Guber wants to make it clear she has plenty of celeb fans besides Oprah, who sports a purple Beyond Yoga outfit on the much-discussed January cover of O. As the daughter of Hollywood power producer Peter Guber, the budding entrepreneur pretty much crawled out of the womb connected. And earlier stints as a talent agent and events planner further honed Guber's ability to get her pants onto the perfect posteriors of A-listers like Charlize, Reese, Demi and Julianne. "The good news and the bad news is that celebrity sells," says Guber. "And the truth of the matter is that middle America A) has nowhere to wear Marni, Chanel and Prada and B) can't afford it."

blog_yoga_pants_02.jpgEvidently yoga is big big big around the Guber household. Not only does papa (now chairman of Mandalay Pictures, he ran Sony Pictures in the early 1990s) practice, but Guber's mother, Tara, founded Yoga Ed, a nationally recognized program that promotes teaching yoga in schools. And clearly, the core tenet of self-acceptance has rubbed off.  Though Guber struggled with her own weight when she was younger, she says she's since learned that beauty comes in all sizes. Not that she can't see the value in attempting to look hot while on the quest for enlightenment. "I don't care how bad Oprah feels," she chuckles.  "She still had her hair and makeup done for that cover."
