Jane's Nose Job

More fragrance news and notes, from our beauty director...

blog_new_perfumes_02.jpgPrada Infusion de Fleur d'Oranger: The company's third fragrance is a crisp, summery scent that leads with orange blossom, or as it's known in the perfume world, neroli. What I smell the most, though, is another note: tuberose. Could be a distant relative of Chanel's Cristalle. $135, at Neiman Marcus.

blog_new_perfumes_01.jpgAftelier Lumiere: Aftelier is a small, artisanal line known for its commitment to all-natural ingredients. They do cozy scents really well, like Fir and Cassis. Lumiere, their latest offering, combines frankincense with a gorgeous dash of blue lotus, so it's both cosy and floral.  $195, at Henri Bendel.

Audrey Tatou's new Chanel No. 5 commercial: Chanel doesn't hold back when it comes to making grand, cinematic TV spots for their signature fragrance. (Remember the one by Baz Luhrmann with Nicole Kidman as the runaway superstar who finds love in a New York City cab?) The latest, which debuted earlier this week, is by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, director of the Audrey Tatou vehicles Amelie and A Very Long Engagement. Jeunet's spot stars Tatou, of course, as a chic lass who meets a mystery man (Travis Davenport) aboard a sleeper train headed to Istanbul. Check it out below:

Unfortunately, nobody at Chanel thought to send me the amazing black jumpsuit that Tatou wears in the last scene, but I did receive a very nice Chanel logo-ed whistle.
