Resort Standout: Donna Karan

It’s that time of year when our editors get to see what designers have dreamed up for resort. One of our favorite showings so far was of the light, fluid and eminently wearable collection by Donna Karan.

“Manhattan Tango” is a handle that grabs you. And one that perfectly captures Donna Karan’s beautiful resort collection. “Today, it has to be an emotional purchase,” Karan said, “so there’s a bit of fantasy. But the clothes have to work.” And do they ever, starting with the draped dresses that look as fabulous in cotton jersey as in silk georgette. But it’s not all girly girl: Karan works the his-for-her side in tailored jackets and an elegant tuxedo. And for that touch of ole: big skirts in bold patterns with shots of pink and red.
