Now that it's finally feeling like summer, the last thing I want to wear is a heavy perfume. August is when I usually switch over to fragrance splashes, which are to parfum what tinted moisturizers are to foundations. These potions have just a hint of fragrance (often with a fruity note), feel as light as water and don't need to be limited to the usual pulse points: hair, legs and clavicle are all splashworthy.

Hermès Eau de Pamplemousse Rose: One of three new takes on Hermès' classic Eau d'Hermès, this one has a subtle thread of rose, but it smells mostly like fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice. $165, at Hermès boutiques.

Estée Lauder Pleasures Splashes: What's interesting about this trio is that all three varieties —Baie Rose Peony, Jasmine Violet and Sandalwood Amber—are classically "heavy" notes brightened up with brighter additions. I'm not usually a fan of sandalwood, but the Sandalwood Amber is my favorite of the batch because it's got a great citrus edge. $52, esteelauder.com

Coach Body Splashes: These oversized bottles encourage liberal spraying, and each of the three floral scents are summery, outdoosy classics: Peony, Iris and Freesia. $55, coach.com.

Mark Costa Rica: It not only looks like a watermelon, it smells like one, too—minus the pits. $16, at meetmark.com

Marc Jacobs Cucumber Splash: This is Marc Jacobs' sixth season of Splash launches. His newest group includes Lemon, Rain and my current obsession, Cucumber, which also incorporates linden blossom and freesia. Imagine a bouquet of flowers punctuated with cuke slices. $68, at saks.com.
