Our studio visit with Eddie Borgo

blog_eddieborgo_1.jpgAfter the Marc Jacobs show earlier this week, we were dashing to dinner and bumped into one of our favorite jewelry designers, Eddie Borgo. As luck would have it, we both happened to be sporting pieces from his last collection—Shiona was wearing a gold cone bracelet and Bei had on a gunmetal bear claw ring (above). We decided it must be a sign and immediately made a plan to pay Eddie a studio visit to see his new collection.

blog_eddieborgo_2.jpgAs we were madly trying stuff on a day later, Eddie—who's created baubles for the runway shows of Philip Lim, Jen Kao, Altuzarra and Camilla Staerk— explained that he had been inspired by Islamic decorative arts, which are reflected in his use of star and floral motifs. Materials are more feminine this time around and include rock crystal, petrified wood, opal and rose gold. As always, Borgo was humble, charming and sweet, and dressed in his uniform of black jeans, white dress shirt and skinny tie.

blog_borgo_01.jpgOur top picks? A hinged plate ring, a rock crystal star cuff, a silver chain mail collar, and silver scalloped plate earrings. For more information, see EddieBorgo.com
