This Week's Model: Constance Jablonski

blog_skinny_banner.jpgblog_constance_01.jpgWalking in any runway show is an accomplishment in itself, but hitting the catwalk 72 times in a season is absolutely unheard of—unless you're French golden girl Constance Jablonski (seen here at Stella McCartney). During the spring 2010 shows, the 18-year-old Lille native was by far the most-seen face. Like so many models, Jablonski says she never had fashion aspirations growing up. "I wasn't that interested in campaigns or magazines," she says. "I actually wanted to be a tennis player." Still, despite her initial lack of interest, Jablonski is now a veritable star whom we expect to see more of in campaigns and editorials—including our own January issue, where she'll be sporting loads of funky denim in a shoot by Claudia Knoepfel.

So, your dream was to be a tennis player?
Yeah, I played tennis for like 9 years and I was doing every competition, even the regionals in the North of France. I still play near Chelsea Piers, but of course not as much as before.

Did you have a favorite model when you were younger?
I was crazy about Elle Macpherson. She modeled, acted and did everything. She was a huge example for me.

What was it like to walk in over 70 shows this season?
It was unbelievable—I enjoyed every minute of it. Balmain was my favorite because I was working with such top models for the first time like Daria [Werbowy] and Carmen Kass. Plus I was so happy to work with the stylist, Emmanuelle Alt. She has such amazing style.

Best moment?
At Y-3, I met soccer player Zinedine Zidane, who kicked balls at the finale of the show. He is huge in France, like God!!

What was your favorite campaign that you've done so far?
For fall, I did a Cesare Paciotti campaign with Carine Roitfeld. It was so crazy to meet her and work with her. She was so nice!

You're new to New York. Where do you like to hang out?
There's this little French restaurant on St. Marks Place called Jules that's great. Besides that I'm either hanging out in Central Park, shopping at Curve in SoHo or going to Broadway shows. I just saw Wicked.

What else do you do in your spare time?
I like to play the piano but I don't have one here. I need to get one.

I noticed that you post on Facebook quite a bit; how did you first get into it?
I'm on Facebook, but I have a private profile. The one you are talking about is not mine! There are like 12 different profiles on there and I can't take them down. It's crazy, but they post a bunch of photos and videos! It is so weird.
