Summer Survey: Rebecca Taylor

blog_rebeccataylor_07.jpgOne part beach babe (she hails from New Zealand) and another part city chick (she launched her line in New York 14 years ago), Rebecca Taylor knows how to summer. So it makes sense that the designer has made a name for herself with those pretty floral prints and light and breezy fabrics—but we also love how she added a tough edge to her fall 2010 collection with manly tweeds and punkish leopard motifs. Here, Taylor dishes on her hot-weather faves.

blog_rebeccataylor_04.jpg What do you think of when we say “summer?”
My white cotton eyelet Victorian dress that I will be purchasing in Clignancourt in Paris, and bright silk floral Rebecca Taylor dresses.

What else will you be wearing during the hot months?
My striped tee and Italian army pants.

blog_rebeccataylor_06.jpg Do you have a favorite bag for the season?
My Mint Floral satchel, and canvas bags with my husband’s illustrations.

And shoes?
Porselli nude glitter ballet flats.

Do you have any summer must-haves?
Cutler & Gross aviators, Clarins Self Tanner and Rainbow flip-flops.

How do you beat the steamy temperatures and sticky humidity?
Chanel Lip gloss and Dior Show Mascara—they go a long way. And I love the humidity—it gives a youthful glow.

blog_rebeccataylor_05.jpg Where in New York can we find you this summer?
At the Brooklyn Botanic Garden with my children, and weekends outdoors.

Where will you go to escape the city?
I am going to Paris with my husband in April, and Japan in May. We spend summer weekends with friends and family in Shelter Island at our summer home.

Tomorrow, Loeffler Randall’s Jessie Randall will answer our summer survey.
