Rosanne Karmes’ children—Sydney, age 11, and Evan,
10—may think they’re too old for bedtime stories now but the
whimsical tales, often about birds, their mother used to make up for
them continue to live on in Sydney Evan, the jewelry line she launched,
in honor of her little ones, in 2001. Today, the siblings are so full of
ideas for Mom’s baubles that she recently gave them each a
notebook in which they could store all their drawings—many of
which are still inspired by those bedtime stories. A recent example is
this necklace, designed after one of Sydney’s masterpieces of a
caged bird named Albert.
