For spring 2011, Prabal Gurung (who presents his collection this Saturday at Lincoln Center) will debut his first footwear collaboration with Nicholas Kirkwood. "I have always been attracted to his strong shapes and dramatic detailing," says Gurung of the British shoe designer with a cult following. "Nicholas takes clean lines and exaggerates them to create an edge." The result of their union is a graphic platform stiletto with mixed textures (leather and latex) and stacked buckle straps that were influenced by African tribal necklaces. All five styles -- in color combinations of black, white, sand, and coral -- will be available next spring.  "I approach accessory design the same way I do a runway look -- with the end goal of achieving a style that can become an instant classic but has the ability to make a strong, intelligent statement." We believe he did just that.
