For the first time in 13 years, Weight Watchers is changing its famous
points system. Rather than concentrate strictly on calories, the new
PointsPlus program ranks food on its ability to promote a lasting
feeling of fullness. “Where the calorie is coming from makes a
difference in converting food into energy,” says Karen Miller-Kovach,
chief scientific officer for Weight Watchers International. Another
change: All fruit is zero points, as opposed to one point under the old
system. Bring on the bananas!
