Tuesday night I climbed the escalators to the top of Paris’ Centre
Pompidou to attend Mango’s 60th anniversary fashion show for the Spanish
retailer’s autumn/winter 2011 collection. The show began at dusk,
kicking off with a video collaboration from Terry Richardson and Kate
Moss. The window shades lowered around the runway while “The Great
Escape” played out showing Moss and Richardson riding around Paris in a
white van, getting ready for an evening out. Moss tries on a number of
pieces of the collection—short dresses, blazers, and leather pants—until
Richardson finally approves of her look. The film soon became reality as
the pair proceeded up the escalators and walked down the mirrored runway
to take a seat next to French Vogue’s Emmanuelle Alt. As for the actual
runway show, models Aymeline Valade, Mirte Maas, Sigrid Agren and
Isabeli Fontana (who will be the next face of the brand) showed off
shiny party dresses and chic black evening suits paired with glitzy
chain jewelry. The afterparty was at the museum’s roof top restaurant,
Georges, which was the perfect spot to sip champagne, take in the scene
and listen to Belgian star Selah Sue perform for the party ready crowd.
