When I was in the 9th Grade and obsessed with all
things Seattle, one of my favorite things to wear was a blue and black
plaid jacket from Eddie Bauer. Fast forward a few (ahem) years, and the
classic American brand is getting a revamp. Not only is the main line now looking younger and hipper,
but this fall the label debuts an outwear collaboration with designer
Nigel Cabourn.

Wednesday night at Milk Studios, The Smile, one of fashion’s
favorite restaurants, hosted a launch party for Eddie Bauer with Nate
Lowman and Leo Fitzpatrick as DJs. The brand also revealed a new film,
"Slanted & Enchanted," by director Phil Pinto and produced by Mariko
Munro and Rachelyn Remz-Porter of Twin Bike Pictures, which can be seen
below.

Last week, Salon94's Fabienne Stephan ventured to Los Angeles with her
camera for an art-filled getaway. Highlights from her trip included the
opening of Jeffrey Deitch's "Art in the Streets" at MoCA Geffen, hanging out in Kenny
Scharf’s brightly customized car and a mind-bending glow-in-the-dark
room recreated from Patti Astor's Fun Gallery. Below, some of Fabienne's favorite
snapshots from the week:

Growing up, I spent summers on Shelter Island with a tall blonde girl with blue eyes named Emily Baker. Recently, while taking a break with W's bookings editors, I came across a model comp card from DNA for one Emily Baker. There was a striking resemblance—I thought, could it be the same girl? Unfortunately this Emily isn't my childhood friend, but it's been hard not to notice her popping up on all the runways in New York. Did she catch your eye?
One of my favorite colors is suddenly showing up everywhere on the New York
runways. Prabal Gurung's opening look and one of Rodarte's last exits—both
on lucky girl Karlie Kloss, were among the best, but the scarlet trend
doesn't stop there. See below for the top five moments in red at New York
Fashion Week:
Not all of us can be as sexy as Rihanna during her performance of "What's My Name?" with Drake last night at the Grammy's, but to start, why not try a skirt with a revealing slit? Below, a few attention-grabbing examples we've seen so far in New York.
With the Fall 2011 collections upon us, we've asked a few of our seasoned editors to share their Fashion Week essentials. Here, Senior Fashion and Market Editor Carolyn Tate Angel tells us she plans to look great while staying warm during February's fashion event.

The Fall 2011 collections are just around the corner, and W’s Senior Fashion and Market Editor Carolyn Tate Angel takes a break from her packed preview schedule to share a look at what’s happening behind the scenes at Band of Outsiders' Scott Sternberg's Manhattan studio.
"The boy-girls take inspiration from Ally Sheedy and Molly Ringwald in The
Breakfast Club; the girl-girls are from a different time and place
altogether, inspired by Northern California's Sea Ranch Commune, or at least
the fictional mythology I've associated with it..."—Scott Sternberg

Here is Scott looking cool and collected a week before his first runway show—we cant wait to see it!
The Fall 2011 collections are just around the corner, and we refuse to let New York’s chilly weather put a damper on the excitement. Here, W’s Senior Fashion and Market Editor Carolyn Tate Angel takes a break from her packed preview schedule to share a look at what’s happening behind the scenes at Thakoon Panichgul's studio.
“There’s opulence in the air, but the question is how to take the stuffiness out of it,” -- Thakoon describing his upcoming Fall collection.
A few looks that he was fitting on dress forms during our visit, many with a focus on the waist.
We had a good laugh when Thakoon showed us his recent gift, called Shticks, from Andrea and Marc Glimcher of Pace Gallery. A little humor goes a long way this time of year.
Finding the right clothes to exercise in can almost be as challenging as
simply working out, which is why I love Splits59. The workout/
lifestyle brand creates great looking clothes that make you feel and
look amazing at the gym. Their “Dana” Seamless Cami has a ribbed band
at the waistline, making it completely bunch-free and the perfect tank
to wear to yoga. (There's nothing worse than a bunching shirt while
moving into downward dog.)
Another highlight is the Dusty full-length tight, perfect for everything
from pilates, jogging and spinning to just taking a quick walk for
coffee. I recently saw a sneak preview of their fall collection that
will be available towards the end of summer. I can guarantee that you
won’t be disappointed with the new black hooded sweatshirt, its perfect!
If you can’t wait that long, take a look at the summer collection,
available online now at splits59.com
One doesn’t usually think of swim when seeing Pre-Fall collections but that didn’t stop us from loving Zero Maria Corenjo’s newest swimwear line. Maria’s first swimwear collection debuted in Summer 2010 and we have been obsessed ever since. She now does swimwear for Spring/Summer, Resort and Pre-Fall (a late summer) seasons. This is, however, the first collection that Cornejo has included swim cover ups, wraps and cotton shorts. Maria had been wanting to do swimwear for a long time after “searching for the perfect swimsuit; wanting a swimsuit that’s well-designed, flattering yet practical.” The new pieces are great for layering—bikinis under jumpsuits or as tops with a cardigan and skirt. The collection draws from the same references as in the ready to wear collection; color blocking, criss-cross grosgrain straps, one shoulder, side-ruching, looping and twisting while wrapping and bringing everything in towards the body. And with the clothes entering the store in April you can buy it just in time for summer!!
