On Monday night, as part of Boucheron's year-long celebration of its 150th anniversary, the house held an intimate viewing of Spiegelwordııs Desir show. Held at the South Street Seaport's Pier 17, it was followed by a casual party hosted by Vanessa Traina and Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld.
My jeweler friend Simon Alcantara and I arrived early and had a chance to catch up and enjoy the beautiful views of the Brooklyn Bridge and the waterfalls. We then entered a 100-year-old mirrored tent and the show began. The theatrical story, inspired by Boucheronııs jewelry and history, was portrayed through jazzy costumes, acrobatic acts and beautiful jewelry imitating the house's iconic designs.
Sitting up close allowed for a great view of the tremendous flexibility of the skilled performers. (Note to self: register for a yoga class tomorrow.) One of my favorite acts—a tribute to Josephine Baker—featured festive twirling hoops and strands of pearls.
