The economy has claimed more than a few victims in the fashion world lately, but well-dressed New Yorkers were particularly saddened by the demise of Linda Dresner's legendary Park Avenue boutique. Credited as an early booster of such designers as Jil Sander, Rei Kawakubo, Martin Margiela and Claude Montana, Dresner announced in November that she'd be closing her New York location after 25 years. "There's too much of everything right now," she told Women's Wear Daily, W's sister publication. "Retailing has to be reconsidered." When asked whether she'd think about reopening in Gotham one day, Dresner -- whose clients have included Jacqueline Onassis, Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and Scarlett Johansson -- didn't rule out the possibility. "Maybe when the smoke clears," she said.
