Beauty obsession of the week: Serious scrub

blog_microderm.jpgThere are all sorts of facial scrubs on the market, from barely-there beads to heavy duty pastes filled with things like walnut shells, grape seeds and olive pits. Alford and Hoff, the men's luxury skin care brand started by two former Arizona State University football players, takes the latter tack with its Microdermabrasion scrub. The thick, white exfoliating spackle is not for sissies—it's rough and granular. But it has an immediate effect on the complexion, leaving it unbelievably soft and glowing. My skin can't tolerate the magnesium oxide crystals on a daily basis, but I actually look forward to the days that it can. Alford and Hoff Microdermabrasion scrub, $85, at Neiman Marcus.
