Given her plethora of collaborations—jewelry with Erickson Beamon (launched this month), sneakers with Keds (hit stores in May), makeup with MAC Cosmetics (July)—it’s a wonder Alice + Olivia’s Stacey Bendet Eisner even has time to think about any hot fun in the summertime. Nevertheless, she’s gearing up for plenty of vacations and alfresco dining, which, we assume, she’ll fit in while designing her new namesake shoe collection that’s set to debut next year.
What’s your favorite thing about summer in New York?
The weekends—everyone leaves! I also loving eating outside. I went to Frankies Spuntino in Brooklyn last night and ate in the garden. Magical.
Do you have any must-haves for the season?
Sunblock. I cover myself in it. Seriously, I wear it like a spray-on shirt. That sounds weird but it’s true. And Activate water. And air conditioning. And [daughter] Eloise—well, I need her always. Oh and my sunglasses. I have hundreds of giant ones. I just got a great pair of purple ones at Jeffrey.
What’s your go-to summer outfit?
Our alice + olivia pleated mini skirt with boxy T-shirts and boots. Or cute polka-dot halter dresses with big sunglasses and wide-rimmed hats. Or big bell-bottom jeans and our silk tanks with colorful platform shoes.
Bags—I like lots of bags. I have some great colorful Givenchy ones I have been loving. I also have a vintage green bag and an old vintage Bottega stone-colored leather bag that is great for throwing 10 changes of clothing in. We also made these cool suede alice + olivia satchel bags that are great for weekend trips.
Favorite summer shoes?
Platforms in fun colors! Miu Miu made some great ones this season. I also have a collection of my own I made in Hong Kong, just a great platform wedge sandal and I had them made in all different colors and skins.
Do you have a secret to looking pretty and fresh, even when it’s 90 degrees out?
I love a high ballerina bun. I also love Ric Pipino’s new hair products for anti-frizz.
What are your summer vacation plans?
We will be back and forth between New York, LA/Malibu and Aspen, and we are also going to Paris and then Rome for Mena Suvari’s wedding!
