If you don't yet know who Hamish Linklater is, get acquainted: the actor (left), who stars in CBS's The New Adventures of Old Christine, was the best part of last night's LOVE benefit performance at the Angel Orensanz Foundation. The event—which raised money for WET Productions, a non-profit promoting gender equality in theater, film and television—saw Rosemarie DeWitt, Jennifer Westfeldt, Ron Livingston, Rachel Dratch, Carla Gugino and Mamie Gummer, among others, take to the stage to read short plays about love. The last piece, Cora and Dave Are Getting Older by playwright Julia Cho, was performed by Jennifer Westfeldt (is it wrong, on a night dedicated to tearing down female stereotypes, to note that the woman is blessed with hair as thick and luscious as her partner Jon Hamm's?) and Linklater, whose deadpan comedy made for the evening's most memorable performance.
Hamish Linklater and Jennifer Westfeldt perform a scene.Earlier in the evening, the night's honoree, power producer Lynda Obst, paid homage to Nora Ephron, whom she called her mentor, telling the story of the time shortly after the two met when Ephron asked Obst to take a look at a rough draft of an article she had written. "I said it was perfect," recalls Obst. "Nora said, 'I think you would make a good magazine editor.'"
