Last night at the New Museum gala...

Last night was the New Museum's Spring Gala, an evening "inspired by the sounds and tastes of Brazil," and all the guests were encouraged to avoid wearing black.

Marilyn Minter wore a fuschia Marni dress. (She told me she always wears Marni because it's across the street from her SoHo studio.)

Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn wore floor-length canary yellow.

Laurie Simmons wore a white Thakoon.

Terrence Koh also went for white — although this wasn't much of a departure for him.

Mary Heilmann, one of the night's two honorees (here, holding her award), went with a graphic black and white print dress.

Cay Sophie Rabinowitz wore a Marni harlequin dress with Rochas platforms.

We loved this guest's Chris Benz dress.

Carol Greene wore white, clearly the popular choice of the night.
