Before Montauk had the Surf Lodge it had Eothen, Andy Warhol and Paul Morrissey’s cliff-side compound that was used as a crash pad by Jackie O, Lee Radziwill, the Rolling Stones and Elizabeth Taylor in the Seventies and Eighties. The 20-acre estate was purchased by the pair in 1971 for the now-inconceivable price of $225,000. While the majority of the land was donated to the Nature Conservancy upon Warhol’s death, the 5.6-acre parcel that housed the property’s buildings was bought by J.Crew’s Mickey Drexler for a rumored $27 million in 2007.

While Andy was not terribly fond of spending time out East (apparently his wig did not cooperate with the Montauk wind), he was inspired enough to create 632 silk screen prints of the Montauk sunset. Four of them appear on the fronts and backs of Bond No. 9 Andy Warhol Montauk, a sultry floral and sexy wood scent meant to evoke the beach at twilight. There is only one fragrance, but it comes bottled up with two different facades – one with blue and purple-hued sunsets, the other with yellow and pink ones. Thankfully, they both arrive on counter on Memorial Day.
