On the Rohde: the Met Museum's Deco-style watch

modern art clock for watch.jpgDesign aficionados worship the furniture and objects designed by Gilbert Rohde for the Herman Miller company in the 1930s and early 1940s. One of his most admired pieces is an Art Deco-influenced electric clock (at left), which is part of the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

In celebration of the clock and in perfect timing (we've noticed an increasing return to early Deco design in both jewelry and watches), the museum's store has created wrist watch versions in two sizes. The large is available now, and the smaller version will be available July 15. blog_rohdewatch.jpg Rohde deco watch, Store.metmuseum.org $65
