Sister Act: Rodarte's new book

blog_rodarte_h(a).jpg In the five years that they’ve been delivering megahit collections, Rodarte’s Kate and Laura Mulleavy have amassed a slew of celebrity followers, received two Council of Fashion Designers of America awards, and been the subjects of a Cooper-Hewitt exhibit. Next up: a coffee-table book, titled Rodarte, Catherine Opie, Alec Soth, for which the siblings tapped the two photographers to shoot, respectively, their favorite collection pieces and California locales. Opie snapped models (Guinevere van Seenus, Frankie Rayder), tattoo artists, and a UCLA grad student wearing the clothes. Soth, meanwhile, trekked across the Golden State, capturing everything from condor eggs to a shady punk club. “You have two different viewpoints,” says Laura. “One from a person seeing the landscapes we’ve loved, and another interpreting the clothing we’ve made. They’re of the same world.”blog_rodarte_h(b).jpg
