Unless you’re a descendant of Coco Chanel, clothing mishaps happen with
inescapable frequency. Among the heavy-handed clutter of double-sided
garment tapes and topsticks emerges a new standout: ShowStoppers. Touted
as “the most durable fashion tape on the market,” these black and nude
Chiclet-size strips take after very thin mounting tape—as in discreet
yet ridiculously strong. In the past few weeks, the peel backs have
become a pocketbook mainstay, even more so with a bit of inventiveness:
I’ve used it to cushion the band of a loose ring; smooth back the lapel
of a structured Lover blazer; and fix the fallen cuff on my vintage
Michael Kors trousers. It’s a go-to for endless wardrobe malfunctions;
if only all of life’s little problems had such quick fixes.
