Printed Matter

blog_DVF_prints.jpgDiane von Furstenberg figures she has designed around 15,000 prints since launching her line in 1970—and she’s archived every last one of them. “They are the core of DVF,” she explains. And now they’ve become the inspiration for Diane, a new collection of ready-to-wear and accessories fabricated from some oldies but goodies. Among them: tangled twigs, tropical ferns, splattered paint, and a chain-link pattern that was worn by both von Furstenberg in a 1972 ad campaign and Michelle Obama in a 2009 Christmas card. Clearly, her designs stand the test of time (dvf.com; from $40 to $365).
