Lindsey Gathright, W
's Market Editor, checks in with Thakoon Panichgul as he puts the finishing touches on his Spring 2012 collection.

For his spring collection, Thakoon drew inspiration faraway places, turning his attention toward
"Americana-meets-Maharaja."

“I started off wanting to do something
metallic, luxe and very ornate with a lot of gold,” says Thakoon. “I was
looking at the works of sculptor Nick Cave and his elaborate, very
flashy embroideries, as well at old American sportswear as
interpreted by other cultures like the Italians and Japanese.”
