October 2011

blog-gio-oct11-01.jpg The sunglasses are vintage Chanel— I bought them at Scarlett, this great vintage store in Paris [see a current Chanel pair, at top, for an equally glamorous option]. Later I wore them to meet my friend Alice Gentilucci for an aperitivo in Milan. She had a matching bag, so we took this photo. Just because. My mom says I look like a modern version of Peggy Guggenheim.

blog-gio-oct11-02.jpg Erin O’Connor had just walked in for a fitting for the Love Ball show at Valentino’s château. She and a friend do an amazing line of t-shirts—you can buy them at shediedofbeauty.com. They say things like she died of perfection or she died of individuality. It’s this decadent British humor.

blog-gio-oct11-03.jpg This is on the set of a shoot for a Max Mara catalog on a New York rooftop. The orchid is such a small detail, but it gives the image a tropical, elegant air.

blog-gio-oct11-04.jpg My Globe-Trotter hand luggage, covered only in posh stickers: The eye and lips are from a Givenchy invitation, the Murakamis from the Gagosian store, and there are some Chanel ones—plus my Birkin and Dr. Dre headphones. I listen to Chopin’s ‘Nocturnes’ to help me sleep.

blog-gio-oct11-05.jpg My favorite painting by Philip Taaffe at the Collezione Maramotti, in Reggio Emilia. it could be a Givenchy print—it’s this dramatic, obsessive-compulsive kind of thing. it was the most colorful one in the collection, without being cheesy.

blog-gio-oct11-06.jpg I styled a couture story in Paris, and it was so cold. Everything was closed, so I found this sweatshirt at a tourist place on rue de Rivoli. That’s Frida Gustavsson on my side, as an angel.

blog-gio-oct11-08.jpg My friend John Aghayan and I were at a Paris club, Le Raspoutine. I don’t know how he took off my shoe—I guess I was dancing upside down on the sofa—but it ended up as a hat. It’s a Sergio Rossi pump. I thought it was very Schiaparelli.

blog-gio-oct11-09.jpg I skipped the Chanel couture show to have a French 75 at the Bar Hemingway in the Ritz Paris. The drink arrived with a flower, and I added these Gaia Repossi earrings.
