Five of Our Favorite Fashion Videos, Presented in Collaboration with A Shaded View on Fashion Film

If quality television is replacing art house cinema, then fashion video might be the new glossy photo spread. It’s a shift in medium that curator, journalist, and editor Diane Pernet was willing to get behind when she founded A Shaded View of Fashion Film, an annual festival celebrating the most sumptuous, original, and cutting-edge fashion films, created by everyone from Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin to Bryan Adams—and starring the likes of Daphne Guinness and Tilda Swinton.

Last week in Miami, fresh from its launch at the Centre Pompidou Paris, ASVOFF 4 held a series of screenings along with the Morgans Hotel Group and the AIDS Community Research Initiative of America at the Delano Hotel (select films were programmed onto iPads spread about the property). Guests at a private dinner in honor of Pernet included Calvin Klein, Bruce Weber, Donna Karan, and Francisco Costa.

Here, in collaboration with ASVOFF, W presents five of the videos we liked most from this year’s festival.

"The Murder of Jean Seberg," by Joseph Lally.

"The Secret Life of Marguerite Duras," by Joseph Lally.

"Twin Parallel," by Justin Anderson.

"Is This Real Life (Nuptialis Project)," by Suzie Q + Leo Siboni.

"Chanel No.3 (Painted Eyes)," by Untitled Associates.
