Blood Thirst

blog-blood-type-fragrances-01.jpg It wasn’t a vampire obsession that inspired the photographer Antonio Zuddas and the designer Giovanni Castelli to create Blood Concept, their new fragrance line based on blood types. Rather, says Castelli, it was a fascination with the substance he calls “the river of life.” Zuddas and Castelli found that the four most common blood types provide a map of human evolution: Since 0 was the first to develop, its corresponding scent is the most animalistic and visceral; AB, the latest, is represented as synthetic and chemical; in between are A (a green spritz) and B (woodsy and spicy). All four have one note in common: a hint of the metallic taste of (true) blood (luckyscent.com; $160–$185).
