Grimes on the Hudson

After a string of sold-out shows around the world earlier this year, Claire Boucher, aka Grimes, returns to New York City on Thursday, August 9 to party with her fans—no tickets necessary. The Canadian sprite of the dance underworld is teaming up with Brooklyn heroes DIIV (whose shimmering Oshin appeared in June accompanied by a thousand heartfelt swoons) and Wild Nothing (who’ve remained relatively quiet since their buzzed-about Gemini in 2010). The free concert, the last of this year’s River Rocks events, gets an upgrade from its previous home at Pier 54 to a well-manicured spot on 44th St. and the Hudson complete with food and drink vendors and a sizable patch of lush grass for lazing between sets.
