Ahead of the Curve: Alexis Dahan at Half Gallery

When Alexis Dahan isn't being commissioned by Purple, French Playboy, and this here magazine to shoot cinema verité portraits of everyone from Urs Fischer to Alexander Wang, the Paris-born, New York-based artist is working on his own far more conceptual images. For his latest body of work (“that’s a good way to describe it,” he notes), Dahan has captured the curves of a woman’s figure, then amped up the contrast to the point of abstraction. The striking shots, inspired by Lucio Fontana’s erotic slashes, are currently on view in "The Lover's Body Parts Are Separated," his solo show at New York’s Half Gallery, running through December 30.
