Don’t Miss: Christies Vintage Couture Sale

If the standard gifts just won’t do, why not add some vintage couture to your holiday wish list? On November 29th, Christies South Kensington is auctioning off a museum-worthy collection of 20th and 21st-century couture: like Jeanne Lanvin-designed pieces from the wardrobe of late Spanish film star Catalina Barcena, as well as Dior, Balmain, and Balenciaga from the closet of Bulgarian model Mrs. Orator Frank Woodward.

If you can’t make it to South Kensington to witness the gavel banging in person, a selection of items—almost a dozen Hermès Birkin bags and even a pair of pink ruffled Louboutins that made a cameo in Sex and the City—are available in an online auction through November 30. And while “vintage couture” conjures thoughts of massive price tags, and that may be true for many of the items, some lot estimates start at a surprisingly reasonable £100.
