The Inaugural Bang

It looks like Michelle Obama is going to start her husband’s second term quite literally with a bang. Yesterday was certainly a big day for her—and her followers. Not only did she join twitter (under the twitter name @FLOTUS), she also got a new hairstyle, a soft curve of fringe that gently frames her face.

The First Lady is not alone: Take Kerry Washington’s recent bang debut at the Golden Globes on Sunday, not to mention the recent fringing of Karlie Kloss, Kim Kardashian and Kate Middleton. Clearly the trend is not waning any time soon, which is good news for the salon business, given that bangs are particularly high maintenance. But it also does beg the question of how long it will be before Obama tires of them and begins that arduous process of growing them out?
