Art Basel Miami Beach 2017: Wild Nights, Bold Style, and More of the Week's Best Party Pictures
Nominally, Art Basel Miami Beach is about the art, a great gathering spot and marketplace for the art world's most high-profile movers and shakers. At night, though, all these dealers, collectors, advisers, artists and their followers must let their hair down from frenetic days of wheeling and dealing. And party they do—hard. From the main drag in South Beach to the city's Design District, events pop almost as often as expensive bottles of Perrier-Jouët, which this year had a big sponsorship presence—at stores, at hotels, at beachside tents, and even inside a sprawling former ice factory in downtown Miami, where the Prada Double Club kicked things off on Tuesday night, the week's first marathon evening. You could say things started with Prada, at the Italian brand's newly refurbished store, and ended with Prada, at a pop-up nightclub—slated to last through Thursday—co-created by German artist Carsten Höller that featured an Italian disco room, a Cuban tropical garden, a Wyclef Jean performance, and just about everybody who had descended to South Florida's for this annual getaway, from Rita Ora and Diplo to Presley Gerber, Ricky Martin and Wendi Murdoch. "Welcome to Cuba, baby!" Jean said on stage. And the Basel razzle was just getting started. Here, we give you the best party pictures of the week, capturing all the color, atmosphere, and wildest moments from a wild week.
