5 Designers to Know from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week - Russia Season 32 FW/16-17 - Day Two

Paris Fashion Week is so last week. Now it’s all about Russia. Here, 5 designers who stood out at Mecedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia.

1

Vipers

Vipers is a relatively new brand on the Russian fashion scene. Sisters Vera and Katya (who design ready to wear and accessories, respectively) launched the label in St. Petersburg in 2012. Since then, the duo has been nominated for several young designer awards in Russia. This season, the sisters put on quite a show, thanks to models wearing ice-blue contact lenses, and their of-the-moment designs, such as ’90s inspired chokers and denim.

Viva Vox

Mustard yellow has been trending for Fall 2016 since New York Fashion Week, and Oleg Ovsiyov’s shaggy fur in this color was a favorite from the designer’s collection, which also included sporty elements, oversized parkas, and bold colors.

Saint Tokyo

Yuri Pitenen is the designer behind the collection Saint Tokyo, which focuses on is a mixing Asian and European cultural riffs. To that point, the brand’s name makes complete sense – it is a combination of where he is currently based (St. Petersburg) and the place where he spends much of his time, Tokyo. This season, Pitenen’s streetwear-heavy collection mixed charming floral prints with tough touches of leather.

Sorry I’m Not

Designer Nikita Moiseenko founded the label in 2013 in Moscow, and has been creating feminine, somewhat cheeky pieces ever since. This season, the standout pieces were borrowed from the boys–as in the case of a see-through plastic trench or this oversized button up shirt with a clever sheer mesh panel.

KseniaSeraya

Since launching in 2013, the Moscow-based designer Ksenia Seraya has focused on knitwear. This season, she offered a muted palette with pops of red, and chic silhouettes. A favorite design was a knit dress with a deep scoop at the back as well as a classic knit slip dress.
